First off: I think it's hugely important that all of you read up on what's happening in Aleppo. This is possibly one of the worst humanitarian crises we've seen in a very long time.
Now, on to your assigned questions. If you can't find anything, choose a question that you didn't have from last week.
Abigail: What does Dylann Roof's conviction mean for social justice?
Annika: Should Facebook censor fake news stories?
Charity: Will the EU sanctions on Russia have any positive impact?
Claire: Is it too late for Aleppo?
Emily: What can be done about pharmaceutical price-fixing?
Jordan: What does possible Russian involvement in the US election signal for democracy?
Meredith: Will the repurposing of Hitler's home in Austria send a good message?
Nathaniel: Has China overstepped its bounds in the South China Sea?
Stephanie: Is Vladimir Putin the most powerful man in the world?

Here are some questions for those of you that want to practice at club. I'm assigning everyone a question that's either definitely or maybe coming to club, and if you're not coming to club I obviously forgive you for not being prepared by default of not being present:
Abigail: Should Park Geunhye be impeached?
Annika: Was Scott Pruitt the right choice for the head of the EPA?
Charity: Should the 49ers keep Colin Kaepernick as their starting QB?
Claire: Is Brexit a death knell for the UK economy?
Jordan: Was Reid right in his prediction of the death of the filibuster?
Meredith: Is Donald Trump the next Rodrigo Duterte?
Nathaniel: Is Paris doing enough to combat air pollution?
Stephanie: Will tourism help or hurt Cuba?
And a bonus question: Are Starbucks' luxe offerings, like specialty brews and alcohol, the right business model?
Have fun, everybody!

This is a reminder that the club meetings in December will focus on students going to Point Loma. Point Loma will happen immediately after the Christmas break and we will only have 2 meetings to help students prepare all of their new events. Point Loma Is the first tournament of the year that offers all speech events and all debate events.
Come prepared to work on those Interps and Platforms.

Hello Kairos families-
Our Christmas party is fast approaching. The plan this year is to have Mexican food catered. Family's are being asked to bring desserts. Host is providing drinks. Paper goods will be taken out of tournament supplies. Sign up genius coming soon.
We will be playing games and doing White Elephant gift exchange. Cost will be between $5-$10 per gift. Playing game is optional. We will open game up to 2 groups: Juniors will have their game, Competitors and Parents can have their game.
We ask that if you do a re-gift that it be something that you would be happy to recieve- no trash or broken items. The idea is to be creative and bring something others will want to steal from you. Each gift can be stolen twice per game.
A short version of club will start at 1pm- games will start about 3:30-4pm. Dinner will be served between 4:30-5:00pm
Party is Friday December 2nd at 4pm- at the Smith's home.

I just looked and we still need 20 more judges for Speech round one and we still need 30 more judges for speech round 2. The time they would need to show up is 12 noon on Friday and again at 3:30 pm on Friday- This time would allow for orientation too.
Please ask everyone you know to help out with these huge needs.

We will not be having an extemp meeting this week. If you feel you need to practice extemp, it is critical that you do your speech at club during the speech hour.
There will be no formal LD meeting.
In TP it will go as follows:
N Green-J Smith (AFF) vs. Ford (NEG)
Williams-Williams (AFF) vs. C Green-A Smith (NEG)
The Bejar's won't be attending the normal debate meeting so Coach Audrie will be meeting with them during the speech hour.
Ford-Hardy will not be debating. They are having a meeting on Thursday with Coach Audrie and Emily.
Ford-Williams (GOV) vs. Green-Smith (OPP)
The Resolution is:
Resolved: Guns before butter.
Have it prepped before club!
And, for you extempers, here are your questions:
What does the Time Warner deal indicate for the industry?
Should NATO back Russia's efforts in Syria?
Was Microsoft's shift in market targeting the right move?
It was a dry week in the news. Hopefully it perks up soon.
If you haven't had your script approved yet: You must bring it to club on Friday. No buts!

Adrian and I were working on your resolutions for the tournament. Here's one of his rejects for you to debate this week:
Resolved: This House should release the Kraken.
Ford-Hardy is Gov. Green-Smith is Opp. Have fun!
Here are the extemp questions for those of you that want to practice this week:

Parli is going to be a full debate round this week! Very exciting. Make sure you have everything that you need!
The resolution to be debated is: A nation’s greatest asset is its culture.
Green-Smith will be Gov and Ford-Hardy will be Opp.
For those of you that want to do an extemp speech, here are your three choices:
Is Snapchat ready for an IPO?
Should Obama continue commuting federal inmates' sentences?
Was António Guterres the right choice?
Let me know if you have any questions!

Here we go, kiddos! I don't have time to write you new questions this week so you get what you get.
Abigail: What does the crisis in Aleppo indicate for US-Russian relations?
Claire: Can peace be reached over Kashmir?
Emily: Can Sanders save Clinton?
Meredith: Was congress right to veto the 9/11 bill?
Nathaniel: Did Shimon Peres' dream die before him?
Stephanie: Is the SAARC summit doomed?
Jordan: Was Bulgaria right to switch its candidate for the UN Secretary-General?
Let me know if you have any questions!

We have a huge job ahead of us. We need 350 judging spots filled for the Coyote Kickoff coming up in November. I have opened up judge registration for the tournament so we need to start encouraging our friends and family to register now.
